Millennium Tower.

That’s…not a good development because that building was already red flags. 58 stories, 400 someodd luxury apartments from $1 to 6 million…built on fill but its piles are sunk only 90ft subsurface. High prices units with posh design and no effort put into the fundamentals of Building Stand Up Good.

I’m not saying that brutalist Khruschevskaya are good, but, Jesus, we’ve turned buildings into investments based on aesthetic criteria and the consequence is awful engineering. Case in point…Dubai.

(My sibling, who’s a builder and designer of houses, is probably feeling a disturbance in the Force.)

The fix they were doing was to extend new piles 250 ft, so…oof. This could get real bad.
