Yeah, it’s a funny thing. Everyone loves the “free market” until it shits all over them. But rather than admit that maybe the magical invisible hand isn’t that great a thing, they look for someone else to blame.

See also: DEY TUK R JERBS! Nobody ever “took” a job, they just offered to do a comparable job for a lower price (or a worse job for a low enough price to justify it). Supply and demand, the “free market” isn’t so great when your livelihood is the product, eh?

Yep. Theoretically Keystone XL would have a negative impact on domestic coal production as would fracking. Happens naturally when you add to the energy pool. The free market takes over. It can fluctuate and coal can also make a return. However, just like everyone loves the “free market” the same is true when you try to build a coal fired power plant right next to that cattle ranch which is owned by a Republican who will tell you, “no, you can’t build that here.”
