I’m not one to totally agree with Thom Hartmann, but by chance I heard him on the radio today in the car and he said something along the lines of “Conservatives today are not really conservatives. They’re radicals, revolutionaries.” He contextualized that quote with some talk about what conservatives today feel about the role of government. I think he’s right. We got guys like Rand Paul, Paul Ryan, Scott Walker, on and on in the state legislatures, that have John Galt fever dreams of abolishing government.

And yet they belie their thirst for power by running for higher office. The Constitution spits on their dream of abolishing what it set up.
