This is a repost from last thread, but it’s more approproate on this open thread:

I just found out that I’m one of the blogs in the “Weblog Awards” this year. But in my category (“Midsize Blog” — how is that determined? Strange) is also Israel Matzav, by Carl in Jerusalem. Since I have so much admiration for Carl’s blog, I refuse to campaign against him! And since he’s currently blogging live from a country at war, I think he’s a deserving candidate. So: vote for Israel Matzav in the Best Midsize Blog category, unless you really really insist on voting for zomblog anyway, which I suppose you can do if you want — I can’t stop you! But I’d feel guilty taking the award away from Carl, especially since I’ve won every previous year I’ve been nominated, and I don’t need another award.

(Though, in earlier years, I won the “Best Photo Blog” category, but this year they changed the definition of the category and made it be blogs which focus on the technicalities of photography, rather than blogs which feature a lot of photographs.)

All the other blogs in that category have campaign link-buttons and pleas to vote, etc. I can’t do that. “If nominated, I will not run. If elected, I will not serve!” (Trivia question: who said that originally?)
