I actually support such an effort. It’ll help get the bums to clear out, which improves the area. If enough areas adopt such tactics, maybe some of the homeless will clean up their act.

I’m developing some thoughts on this. I’ve been reading some Francis of Assisi and he advocates a dependent begging priesthood kinda like what Buddhist monks do. There is some logic behind it. There’s great humility and community to be found from the simple act of asking for what you need. However in our modern culture it’s often an act of decadence to smoke crack and drink all day and ask strangers to pay for it. It’s an interesting topic.
