Watching bombing or military action on TV is sort of like that. It is very easy to get the disconnect between the entertainment of the TV coverage and the fact that it reflects *real* people be killed.

Lots of things to blame it on, but that it happens doesn’t surprise me. The bloodthirsty barbarian is not buried that far down under the thin civilizing veneer.

The sheer delight they were getting from it is what freaked me out.
