re: #146 Wendell Zurkowitz (slave of the waffle light)

I own a stupid phone, for my work, so people can rach me when I am not at home.

Use a prepaid card and only call or text from it when necessary.

I am likewise to Luddite, if someone can demonstrate that something is useful, I will embrace it. But with reservations. I don’t post anything on Facebook unless it is something I don’t mind sharing with the whole world.

See, that’s another thing that has changed. Work. “…so people can rach(sic) me when I am not home.”

Never mind that you’re on your own time? That is no longer respected if you must be reached no matter what. No one is that important if others are prepared. Is work no longer a smooth running collaboration, but just a collection of individuals that must be available at all times if one or the other screws up?

I would hate having that kind of job. No wonder so many people are so fucking stressed out and neurotic today.

I never belonged to a company when I was off their clock, so I might not survive in today’s work world.
