If he isn’t a bigot, what is it about him you find objectionable- his politic?
What on earth is it with false dichotomies? Are the only reasons to dislike someone because they’re a bigot or beacuse of their politics?
He is irresponsible. He slammed Michelle Obama as “Stokey Carmichael in a dress”. Stokey Carmichael was a militant black seperatist socialist, an immigrant who went into self-imposed exile in Africa. He was such a seperatist he rejected any collaboration between the Black Panthers and white activists.
There is no point of comparison between Michelle Obama and Carmichael. It is a stupid, reprehesnsible, asinine comparison— not to mention hideously and cavalierly insulting.
He didn’t apologize for this, but instead used the weak-sauce “i’m sorry if anyone misinterpreted me and was offended” excuse. He didn’t apologize to Michelle Obama. He defended his analysis of her as “Stokey Carmichale in a dress” as his informed point of view.
That alone is completely asinine.
And now, during a period of time when mosques are being attacked, when anti-Muslim bigotry is at a height, he not only clumsily tries to express an irrational fear of religiously observant Muslims, but completely fucks up a quote from a convicted terrorist and makes it appear that he endorses the idea that he thinks there is a war between Islam and the US coming.
That’s not politics I’m objecting to. That’s idiocy.
