I’m not expecting much from Obama’s speech tonight. He’ll never get any of his proposals by the GOP. I just hope the Republicans refrain from embarrassing outbursts.

Neither am I, to be honest. Having seen previews of what’s in it so far, I can already tell that it’s going to ultimately viewed as “not going far enough” by one half and “going too far” by the other.

Personally, at this point, I think Obama should just play for all the marbles and go from there. Put up a huge spending bill, one that focuses on infrastructure repairs (estimated at roughly $1 trillion minimum) and go from there. A bill that would keep the construction companies going for years. If the GOP wants to kill such a bill, make them work for it.
