That sounds like the standard corporate raider.

While I don’t like them, I accept that they serve a purpose in our economy. IOW, many businesses have been either poorly run, or the owners are not personally (time/emotion) involved enough to want to protect their company/employees. So outsiders come in, take over a business from the originators/previous owners, and cash out the assets and dump the “weight” (i.e., employees.)

Cold hearted and ruthless. But our society allows it.

it’s legal, but 400 people in their 50s who are suddenly unemployed and dumped into poverty isn’t good for the american economy or for american society no matter how much anybody makes excuses for it
