I truly worry about that. We are so set up to redo the early 1900s, where gains made by blacks are erased. I worry about a new “white populism” where Republicans appeal to a large number of whites, a number of whom are currently Democrats, and convince them to back laws that restrict minorities, things like raising wages for whites but not blacks (targeting certain jobs), allowing discriminations because the government shouldn’t be involved in private business.
