I would not quite go that far, but if one hits, they will most likely be more concerned with exploiting it for their ends than actually helping the victims or solving their problems…

The two most obvious possibilities for Republicans to create disasters that are intended to help Team (R) are:

1) have provocateurs spark riot(s) at the DNC

2) back-channel coordination with Putin to create something messy at the right time.

Neither of these are out of character for Republicans at this point. If I can think of these ideas, anyone can, so the US intelligence community better not have this kind of stuff in the “unthinkable” category.
