Very good article on Russian COVID propaganda. The Russian state media (that is, the Russian government) is trying to do two things: get Russians to vaccinate, and the West to stop. So, they flood their domestic Russian language outlets with anti-anti-vax stories, but at the same time flood their German and English language outlets with anti-vax conspiracy propaganda.

It. Doesn’t. Work. Russians translate the German and English stuff back into Russian and circulate it around on Telegram, and believe that because that’s the Stuff They Don’t Want You To See. The Russian elite is full of fucking morons.

Or maybe Russians are right to be skeptical of the Russian vaccines available to them. The Sputnik vaccine was launched before any of the western vaccines, but it hasn’t yet made the list of those approved by WHO. Meanwhile China has 2 vaccines and India has one among the 8 that are approved. Cuba has recently submitted its vaccines to WHO for approval and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are approved before Russia.

The problem may not be with the design but tied to the manufacturing process but if I were a Russian this delay would concern me.
