Or they are afraid other straight (*ahem*) men will asume they are hte ghey. Guilt by association of something that isn’t guilt in the first place?

Like have a black grandmother used to be a big deal you might not tell anyone.

When your job could depend on it, I guess it makes sense. Not so much without societal consequences, IMHO.
