David Brooks only now realizes that Obama wasn’t what he seemed? What the frack was he thinking ever thinking that Obama was moderate? There was absolutely nothing in Obama’s background to even hint that Obama would play moderate. Nothing. It was all solid left to far left to Marxist. His economic theories are straight out of the New Deal and big government - bigger than anything the fiscal liberal Bush could come up with. If there’s anything that leftists can do, it’s outspend everyone else with other people’s money.

There’s nothing in his words that suggest moderation or conservativism.

If I were a reporter at the NYT, and knew that the paper’s stock was in penny stock territory (which it is close to), and that firings of the newsroom are on the horizon, I’d be demanding Brooks’ scalp because he’s done nothing to show that he can provide insightful commentary or anything else of use - regardless of his political stance.

The same goes for Dowd. Krugman can at least provide some insight on economics - even if he’s wrong more often than not.
