I’d put off getting my Saturn Ion fixed in the recall, and today it bit me in the butt. As in, my car’s ignition would not turn off, not for love or money. I could pull the key out of the ignition and the car would still run. You can imagine the WTF moment when I realized I was going to have to go to a Plan B to get the car turned off.

That said, I love this modern era. I was able to use my phone to call my brother to let him know I was on the way over with a messed up car, then find out how to get the car stopped (remove the fuel pump fuse) and where the fuse box was (along with my very exact complaint was that it wasn’t in an obvious place). Mission accomplished—the car is now parked in front of my mother’s house and I am now driving the GMC Jimmy.

I have no idea what the turnaround time is on getting the parts for that ignition recall, but I guess I will find out.
