To (mis-)appropriate a phrase from the IT world, security through obscurity is not actually security at all.

Do not misunderstand me. Harming someone, belittling them, whatever on account of the perfectly legal things they do is wrong. I’m not defending any awful behavior towards this person that followed from the revelation of their involvement in pornography. A job is a job, and nobody deserves to be made fun of for the job they do whatever that may be.

That being said, walking into a studio and accepting money to perform in front of a camera, with the express purpose of publishing the resulting video on a publicly-accessible website to be available to anyone willing to pony up the cash is not a thing you have any reasonable expectation of privacy about. There is nothing to ‘out’. The guy’s a scumbag and deserved what he got, but I take issue with it being presented as ‘outing’ someone about a public act that they performed, with the express purpose of that act being broadcast to the world.
