Is the date copy on this Sabo Ted Cruz poster the same font (not my area of expertise?) Perhaps he copied the style? (It’s from early 2014)

No, that isn’t the same font - look at the capital A. The Sabo poster’s font has a flat top on the A - the font Chuck used has a pointed top. The R is also very different.
