I do think that some of this hyperbole is a bit premature. American democracy is not dead just yet. We’re definitely having a bit of a rough patch, but it’s not over by a long shot. Might need some tweaking around the concept of an “informed electorate”, though.

If we do survive this as a nation state, it’ll be more like the 2nd Republic in France and just as fragile. They’ll have done too much damage to the infrastructure and education systems. Hope democracy has taken root in Germany; they’ll be all that’s left before long.
