Thank you for the heads up, I wondered wtf was going on. Definitely something I keep an eye on. I don’t expect perfection of of anyone but there’s still a certain level we need to expect.

I’ll be honest, I originally thought Sojourners had published something that was anti-Catholic, which was a surprise. But the article wasn’t available to say and I was willing to give Wallis some room on it. Then I learned that the article was actually more along the lines of “there is unrestrained racism in some pockets of the American Catholic church and the hierarchy is basically looking the other way. Oh, and the racism is longstanding and deep-seated.” That put more nuance on the situation. Then an editor resigned very publicly and noisily, which caused the shit to hit the fan. And now Wallis has resigned after it became clear some Catholic allies had approached him off to the side to urge him to pull this truthful article because it was embarrassing to the hierarchy.

What. a. mess.
