Federal employees are not allowed to engage in strikes or work stoppages. Friends who are furloughed told me that they are forbidden to take any such actions.

In past shutdowns, even the Cruz shutdown of ‘13, things were resolved soon enough that federal employees didn’t go unpaid for longer than a single pay period. Unless Cheeto Benito gives up this temper tantrum in the next week, we’ll have surpassed the longest shutdown of 21 days and be in uncharted waters.

I know if I was told I’d be working for an indefinite period without the promise of payment, I’d have more than a few choice words for my immediate superiors and be contemplating just how I can exploit the system without getting fired.
