The United States now has more than 110,000 confirmed deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic.

It doesn’t seem to be slowing down very much.

Iran appears to be a very troubling example of what could happen — their new case count was headed down, had in fact dropped about 75%, and now it is skyrocketing, to the highest level of the pandemic there. Maybe this is just due to more testing? Deaths have not yet reflected a significant change, but there would be a lag in this curve. I don’t know enough about the policies they adopted to stop the spread, but whatever they were, they don’t seem to be working any longer.
