I think it’s so funny watching the basic bird mating ritual. Nine times out of ten the girl bird is like, oh no. How embarrassing. She’s looking the other way, or trying to get away, but mostly rolling her eyes over the ridiculous display.

So a lot of bird species may be getting by due to the concept of the pity fuck.

She’s not embarassed, or trying to get away. She’s playing hard to get, to make him prove he’s determined and committed, to make him prove he’s the kind of bird who’ll bring worms back to the nest when the time comes.
