And that reminds me of wingnuts freaking out over something Bernie Sanders said in 1972.

I seem to recall there was an entire genre of romance fiction marketed to women, called “bodice rippers” that started during the ‘70’s. Before that the romance genre consisted of Jane Austen style gentle courtship tales with nothing racier than a hand kiss.

The “bodice rippers” contained soft-core rape scenes and these books were enormously popular with women readers. So maybe women in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s did have rape fantasies.

The genre is still around but not as rapey as it used to be, more like Outlander.
