Ah, I remember taking a trip to Colorado once for about a week or so, just cause I’d never seen the Rockies. It was in August and it (and the Rockies!) was just magnificient.
Anyway, on the way into Rocky Mtn. National Park, we stopped for lunch in the Village of Estes Park - and sat on the upper deck (reinforced roof) of a hamburger joint - plexiglass panels all around to keep the wind off during winter, I guess. Anyway, waitress brings my beer and most recent former wife’s chablis, and I tilted my chair back to drink from the bottle ad there were 3 or 3 HUGE birds up in the sky right overhead. I asked the waitress what they were and she replied, nonchalantly, “Oh those are Bald Eagles - we have about 5 nesting pairs around here”. So of course, idiot that I am, I grab my camera - 35mm lens, and take shot after shot after shot. Wow. Bald Eagles. Course when we got the film developed (yes, that’s right, it was pre-digitial camera!) all we saw was this beautiful blue sky and some specks of what appeared to be dust WAAAY up in the sky! LOL!
But Lord, it sure was special to see ‘em.

Camped in White River north of Estes a couple of times in college. Nice area. Never seen so many stars.
