Okay, now I’m really regretting writing what I did, because this is not what I meant at all. I can fully expect someone to not want to murder children, even if they’ve been enslaved. That sort of thinking leads to endless suffering. Does the family of the murdered child get to then murder Turner’s family in revenge? Where does that shit end?

It ends when slavery and other extreme forms of degradation end.

I’ve imagined how I would have felt at age 30 if I were Nat Turner. The prospect of leading a rebellion seems far more attractive than picking tobacco for another ten years (while your people are tortured, sold and murdered) and then dropping dead one day out in the fields.
