I got suckered into paying $100 for turbo tax’s “free” software because the free plan didn’t include the student loan interest deduction form. Granted, the difference between claiming and not claim that was well over $100 between state and federal, but it was rather annoying.

The IRS should develop software that populates the information we have already provided them into your return so that many people could actually file for free. But of course corporate lobbyists for the tax return companies have it blocked.
