About the UK… How does Boris Johnson fire elected officials? He removed the whip (and revoked their access access to enter Parliament). What are weekends for?

I do not understand this at all.

By “removing the whip,” he’s ejected them from the Conservative Party. While they’re not fired, they are cut off from any support from the party and if they choose to run for reelection they will either have to join another party or run as independents. It’s a bit more formal version of those Congresscritters here in the States who get cut off financially by their party when they cross the leadership one too many times. Sort of like what Steve King is going through right now.
