Kevin Phillips (the guy who helped create Nixon’s Southern Strategy) actually calls this “The Great Disenlightenment”. For the first time I know of in recorded history, a great power has deliberately and knowingly begun to destroy her own cache of knowedge and education and sink into mythology and magical thinking.

This isn’t an invading army burning down our library of Alexandria. We are carrying the torches ourselves.
