No, he isn’t. He’s a sane man who is running in a state where most of the voting public hates Barack Obama. This crisis is an opportunity for him to push hard to get over 50% in the primary. So he has to attack Obama as hard as possible in order to win over the South Carolina voters.

Have you ever asked yourself why it is that the rabid base of the GOP is such that this is necessary to get to over 50% in the primary?

Serious question, Dark. What does the opposition look like and why is running to the right so necessary? At what point does this become self-defeating in the general? At what point is it worth the damage it does to individual rights for women and minorities that your ‘team’ stays in power?
