To my enormous disappointment, the country acquiesced in the 2000 election robbery. “500,000 votes? Eh, close enough!” What happens when a republican loses the popular vote by 10 or 15 points but wins the Electoral College through this kind of jiggery-pokery? Will people stand still for that?

Probably not. But with the system as it is, would the Republican Congress approve a Constitutional Amendment to eliminate the Electoral College and go to a winner take all election?
