Damn. Earlier there was a report that a huge fire was under a bridge off our major outer belt 1-270 over Interstate 70 on the west side of Columbus. It had both roads closed down since around 6:00 AM.

They just showed they finally got the fire out and the remains of a tanker truck. Not much left. That was a hot one. Must have been a full fuel (gasoline) load.

Doesn’t look like I-70 is going to be opening back anytime soon. The bridge supports look like they took some major heat and are probably weakened. What a mess. That’s going to screw up traffic on the entire west side of the city if they end up having to repair the bridge. As some of you know, I-70 is one of America’s major east to west highway systems.

It looks like the trucker came down the ramp from I-70 and lost control just off the ramp, crossed the road and slammed the rig and overturned it on the concrete wall on the far side of the road. I wonder if he was just going too damn fast and the fuel load shifted and took him right off the road.
