We figured since it was Spring, we’d do a little upgrade on our deck furniture. My wife ordered an outdoor day bed from Wayfair, and they delivered it quickly - in two days! It came in yesterday.

So while my wife was still at work, I figured I’d open up the box and put it together as a surprise for when she got home. But when I opened up the box, it looked like the box got dropped on one side, and there was a crack in the end of the frame. I sent a pic of the crack to my wife, who then contacted Wayfair about getting it swapped for an undamaged one.

When she got home and opened the mail, Wayfair informed her that our replacement day bed would be here on Wednesday. All good.

But the thing that floored me was at the end of the email, they said they wouldn’t issue a return authorization for the damaged one, saying we could dispose of it however we saw fit!

So I went out with a couple of clamps and a bottle of Titebond XL and glued the crack back together. So come Wednesday, we’ll have two outdoor day beds. The thing wasn’t ridiculously expensive, but it did cost a couple hundred bucks. I guess Wayfair figured it would cost more to ship it back and repair it and then try to sell it again, so we get a freebie!
