I do wonder if GOP politicians (and Democrats too) will ever realize that allowing themselves to be so simply blackmailed on issue after issue by specialty interest groups with pocket books is:
1. Showing a lack of guts
2. Showing a lack of principles
3. Present the politician (and by association most politicians) as a commodity to be openly bought or intimidated by threat of primary opposition
4. A lousy way to run a country
5. The politician will ultimately end up with the dilemma of having two deep-pocketed interest groups on opposite sides of an issue

Though I expect they tell themselves in bed at night that they are on the side of Right, bravely resisting those who will destroy America, and will be retired and gone with a nice bank account when things collapse.

The GOP’s signed one too many Faustian pacts. They’ve gerrymandered themselves into “safe” districts that are in reality locked wards where the inmates are running the asylum. At this point they have no other choice, they have to keep screaming “NO!” to anything that Democrats support just to avoid going home to a primary challenge from a “true conservative” who’s getting bankrolled courtesy of Citizens United.
