re: #57 dangerman

I was thinking of her. She mentioned she wasn’t packing running gear for the trip. 😞

So your walking is the good base. The jogging on top of that. Two days is good

Then slow easy increments. Only one at a time
Add a bit of distance or time. Or better add a day of jogging so it’s three of seven. Then go to every other day…as long as it takes to get there easily

I find it best to run a bit less than i think I can. I enjoy it more. Stick to it. And am motivated to find the next increase.

Any program you stay with is better than one you dont

My company has done two Fitbit challenges this year. If you joined the first one you got a Fitbit for free as well. The recent one is “Walktober” and I set a personal goal of getting a leaf (6k, 8k, or 10k steps per day) on 25 of the days in the challenge.

This has been good for getting me to do hikes on weekends, or an after work walk in order to get the necessary steps for 10,000 (~5 miles) that day since a usual work day is 4-6,000 steps. I also have a stationary bike in my apartment as the emergency backup since 30-40 minutes on it at a 15-16mph clip converts as a lot of steps.

I also do longer hikes on weekends and have a few 20,000+ step days in as well. And since I lug a camera along I usually get some decent wildlife or plant pictures as well.
