He hasn’t lost his job, and isn’t likely to in the near future.

He has many years experience deepwater, and lots of expertise. In fact, his company has never required him to take one of their deepwater courses; he could probably write the book on it. What will happen to him is he would get sent overseas, most likely, Brazil or Nigeria, for 28 on/28 off. Well, that would be the plan, those never work out that way. At any rate, he is most likely to remain employed. If his company doesn’t want him, there are companies that would want him.
