re: #155 Love-Child of Cassandra and Sisyphus

Don’t most elections have the equivalent of “quality control”? E.g., San Diego county doesn’t report final results until about a month or so after an election, as there are always ballots to throw out, or to contend.

Absolutely. The difference is that they don’t announce the results are being held back for “quality control” at the time of night the results have almost always been made available in the past.

I don’t think one has to be a conspiracy theorist to be concerned that something strange is going on in the present situation.

re: #157 Love-Child of Cassandra and Sisyphus

Before the 1970’s and the growth of caucuses and primaries, party candidates were often selected by at best dubious means. See the 19th century for some wild examples.

No question. Nobody wants to go back to this. I do, however, feel like there is ample middle ground between the good people of Iowa having to show up at a certain place at a certain time to stand in groups and plead their case to supporters of “nonviable” candidates and candidates being chosen in smokey backrooms at conventions.
