In antiquity, Israel was known throughout the Roman empire for its wines. Vines were planted almost as soon as the state was founded. It took time for them to mature, but now that they have, the wines are phenomenal.

I also recommend the Sauvignon blanc from the same vineyard.

The best, best, best wine comes from the Golan wineries! It is the best wine I have ever tasted, not that I am such a big wine maven, but these are dry wines that don’t have any sour tang, just crisp deliciousness.
