It is, in part, a water quality issue.

Compost leaves in your yard if possible. A mulching mower can handle light leaf cover, placing it right back into your lawn. Or, a compost pile can be used to create new soil for your garden. Save money on the bags of fertilizer you won’t need to buy!

The mulching mower probably doesn’t sound that great either, but at least it doesn’t blow the leaves all the fuck over the place (which may make them more likely to wind up in storm drains, depending on how bad the leaf-blower-wielder’s aim is)

(to tie this all together, I wonder if leaf-blower nuts and gun nuts are one and the same? “Yee-haw, loud metallic phallic device!”)
