Because the GOP are all too aware that have no hope at wining by presenting policies and perspectives that attract voters, only by instituting rules and restrictions that suppress them.
The thing about those gripes from the GA GOPer, though? While the proposed changes may indeed make it harder to vote, I don’t see where it is necessarily going to produce more votes for Republicans. Unless they are going on the assumption that Republicans will (famously) “crawl over broken glass” to vote for the GOP, while Democrats are more apathetic and more-easily discouraged? But in Georgia? After seeing what happened in 2020-21? A dubious theory, IMO.
