It’s my understanding that these things occurred at conferences or gatherings held for gay teens. If a parent sends their teen to one of these things, then they must be OK with the information presented. This is a matter between the teens and their parents.

The books for sale - few teens have credit cards to purchase things from the internet. If they want one of these books, they need to ask their parent for it. If the parent buys it - again, a matter between the teen and his/her parent.

Now, some teens may ask an older friend to purchase this stuff for them. It happens that teens get access to sexually charged materials that their parents would not approve of. It simply happens. Even as old as I am, I found “stuff” when I was a kid! And I’m not permanently scarred.

These materials are written in such a way that they are not things I would have wanted my kid exposed to, whether dealing with homosexual or heterosexual sex. But there are parents who think differently than I do; they can support whatever they want for their kids.
