A question about that Politifact school gun shootings thing. Are not gangs on school property a school issue? Then shouldn’t a gang member that decides to shoot a rival or rivals at school be a school problem? If so, then it is a school shooting.

I think the word ‘gang’ is giving them an out that really isn’t there.

Wasn’t part of the Columbine shooting due to the two shooters going after kids they saw as the ‘cool kids/jocks’? That means they decided to see those kids as a faction. Cannot a faction be seen as a ‘gang’ in a way? It is an us versus them kind of thing. I do believe many school shootings come from a faction being seen as an enemy to the shooters.

Seems like needless splitting of hairs. I also wonder if there isn’t just a touch of bigotry involved in the thinking. You know, gangs are ‘those people’ and that stuff is in the ‘hood, or something.
