Let’s just say that Trent Lott’s thoughtless massaging of an old segregationist’s ego on his 99th birthday was not given the same pass as ___ ( fill in gaffe of choice) several incidents afterwards involving Biden, Harry Reid, Robert Byrd, et al and their public statements about ’ clean ’ candidates, with ’ no negro dialects’ ‘, and in Byrd’s case, the N word used more than once on the Senate floor. Lott was run out of his job on a rail.
BTW, don’t intend to start on that topic, just giving an example of someone getting fired.

Lott actually said what he said, and it was vile. I don’t know why you can’t understand how horrible what he said was, but I don’t intend to have this conversation again.
