Bubblehead’s post reminds me of the people trying to justify torture. We are supposed to be better than that.

With Enhanced Interrogation you can argue the point, though; In that case it is possible to argue that the value of the intelligence gained thereby is likely to outweigh moral and political costs incurred. Disrespecting someone’s corpse has no such defense. It’s purely a “Hurr, hurr, hurr” action, intend to show you hate the enemy.

Note: I’m saying the argument can be made. I’m not making that argument here.
