Actually, if there was no legitimate argument over it the president wouldn’t have offered a compromise. A compromise I might add that was accepted by some parts of the Church (even the more liberal ones), while the bishops still had objections. Its at that point that I was referring to.

The GOP picked the ball from that point and are pushing something else, I’m not sure what it is, but to say that the initial proposal from the president didn’t pose some issues that needed to be discussed is kind of ignoring what is going on here. Issues that could come up to the supreme court.

Hey I know this is an unpopular opinion here (see some of the responses), but I think a distinction has to be made between the original objection to the plan which even Biden didn’t like, and the current “discussion” after the compromise who the lunatic fringe of the GOP has now picked up.

You guys want to say both things are the same, be my guest of course.
