One can only hope. The country regularly gets whacked with hurricanes, and the quake basically destroyed everything that wasn’t damaged by those storms. This might get the country to adopt new and more stringent building codes - enabling them to survive not only strong quakes, but the hurricanes that constantly sweep through the region.

They need to catch a break somehow…
