Trivia: We can thank Tambora for Shelley’s Materpiece “Frankenstein” since it was allegedly the product of a story-telling contest held by Byron, Shelley, P.B. Shelley and Polidori when they were stuck inside on holiday because the weather was crappy.

The Tambora eruption caused widespread hunger and even famine in Europe from crop losses.
