The House of Saud will be delighted to get us involved in their conflict and have our military die for them — we are just their hired guns. But as I keep saying — maybe naively — this is not the Trump way; he won’t be starting a new conflict that would produce significant American casualties. Yes — he will misjudge the situation, like he misjudges everything except the gullibility and racism of much of the American public — but actual conflict, now that Bolton is gone, seems increasingly unlikely.

He won’t get us involved in another war, because that would be long and messy and hurt his reelection chances. No, he’ll be swayed by a general or a paper-pusher at the Pentagon who will tell him that we can launch air strikes that will be quick, safe, and decisive so that he looks awesome for “doing something.”
