He’s phsyically fine, and gets a crapton of exercise (walks/runs 6 miles a day soon). A lot of MRDD folks have serious physical problems too, but he seems to have avoided that.

The official diagnosis is “Infantile Autism with Mental Retardation”. It would probably be something else now, but hell, it was the late 60s.

Kind of the defining feature of my life is that at some point soon (or hopefully not quite so soon) I’m going to have to throw just about everything aside and go live as his caretaker, etc.

Even though you were a dick to me tonight….. I have an interest in this. My grandson is 6 years old with autism and hasn’t spoke a word yet. When he expresses love he bites people on the arm HARD…… Musical sounds are very interesting to him and seem to get his attention. I’ve just never understood how this may play out to adulthood.
