I’ve seen too many 30s, 40s, and 50s war movies and other literature where killing the “other” was extolled. So I am not surprised at the lack of empathy.
That’s why my favorite war movie is a German one: Stalingrad. It didn’t pull any punches. There were no good guys or bad guys. It had one of the most horrific battle scenes I’ve ever watched.
Note: Don’t watch this if you have a weak stomach.
War is sometimes necessary, but it should never, ever be fun.
